the nivarlis history
hand making hats began as a creative outlet for professional snowboarder melanie leando in 1997, and as a way of passing the time spent on long haul flights in between competitions.
after making hats for friends and friends of friends for a couple of years the nivarlis idea came together and the company was launched.

the first headwear collection reached uk stores in the winter of 2003.  two hundred hats were hand crafted in great britain and the goal was to use the best quality materials and to create the perfect shape beanie.

the nivarlis philosophy is to experiment with all possibilities and to make our headwear as good as possible by concentrating on fit, style and quality
we aim to create original hat designs as well as recreate traditional styles using understated colours and unusual materials.

all designs are inspired and developed by the collective and everything we produce is wear tested in the mountains.
